About My Clients

I enjoy working with clients from preteen years through the elderly. My areas of specialty include anxiety, depression, relationships, grief and loss, work stressors, life changes/transitions, domestic violence, legal issues, children and family members of those struggling with addictions, and addictions including gambling. My clients seek a comforting, compassionate, and confidential environment to explore challenges and work at identifying and using skills to better manage life and stressors.

My Background and Approach

I earned my Bachelors Degree in Social Work from Shippensburg University. I completed an intensive internship during my senior year of my undergraduate education working as a case manager with a local Area Agency on Aging. I then pursued and earned my Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Shippensburg University which included an internship for a year working in outpatient addictions. I have more than 12 years working as a therapist. I have had advanced training in CBT, addictions, trauma informed care, and gambling. I earned my License in Professional Counseling (LPC) and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counseling (CAADC) with an endorsement in Problem Gambling. I have experience in case management, mental health counseling, dual diagnosis counseling, and addictions counseling. I seek to provide calming and nurturing counseling sessions that focus on your needs and interests and we will work at the pace you are comfortable with to make progress on your goals.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My goal is that you will lead your therapy sessions to make the positive changes in your life that you want. Self care is very important and we will explore and practice doing self care as part of your daily routine. Acceptance and respect are very important to me personally and in the therapeutic relationship. When I am not practicing therapy, I greatly enjoy spending time with my four legged children. I firmly believe in the therapeutic qualities in having pets and how they help reduce stress and anxiety as well as being a trusted companion offering unconditional love. I spend time weekly doing volunteer work with groups such as Castaway Critters and Rebuilding Together. Volunteer work allows us to connect with and help others in need including humans and animals. Volunteering can be making donations to spending time remodeling homes for those in need to organizing fundraisers. I am an avid reader and will recommend books to others that I find helpful and motivating.
