I love working with my clients to identify the narrative that is steering their life. When we determine that narrative, we then work together to externalize the perceived problem and rewrite the problem-driven narrative into a more positive and healthy growth narrative. In narrative therapy work, the client is never the problem - the problem is the problem.

When I work with individuals, I use a humanistic, person-centered, or Rogerian form of therapy. I always listen intently to my clients as Carl Rogers did, and I believe my clients hold the inner drive to improve themselves and grow. I am there to help my clients access the knowledge and growth potential that already lies within them.

I am trained in Family Systems Therapy through my Marriage and Family Therapy degree. I seek to approach all of my client sessions, whether individual or families or couples, from a family systems viewpoint, as we all come from some concept of family and are influenced by that family.

Being in one of the fields where compassion and empathy are essential to successfully helping clients, I am personally familiar with compassion fatigue. I have worked with other mental health and healthcare professionals as they reset themselves to combat or prevent burnout, and I have worked with family caregivers who are attempting to care for themselves as well as loved ones.

Spirituality can be the rock that holds us through all forms of storms, or it can be the rock that beats us down into a pulp of nothingness. I love working with clients who are ready to deconstruct and reconstruct their belief systems into their personal relationship with a power greater than themselves. It is highly vulnerable and always life-changing work with immeasurable rewards.

Maybe it is the teen transitioning from high school to college. Perhaps it is the just married couple transitioning from singlehood or the newly retired couple who has barely been alone together for the past 40 years and doesn't recognize the person sitting next to them. All of these transitions and everything in-between provide opportunities to grow. Therapy is the safe place to do that growing.
