My Background and Approach
I have a background in somatic, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive work. I obtained my masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University Seattle, and completed training from Seattle School of Body Psychotherapy. I've worked with depression, anxiety, and trauma with Asian, White, multi-racial, and immigrant populations, and learned how these issues show up differently for unique individuals. Many people hope therapy can fix their problems or make them feel better. Therapy can lead to those improvements, given your commitment. It is also an introspective process that promotes personal growth. I will help you to safely feel your emotions, examine oppressive influences, and work through vicious cycles. By doing this, you will gain insight, perspective, and self-compassion that enable you to make new choices in life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we are all intelligent and exquisite people who are always doing our best. Struggling is not a sign of weakness or inadequacy. Mental health is not just about thoughts, feelings, and behaviors: Our body is also part of the equation. Therapy is not the only path to health and growth, but if you feel called to try it, I believe in listening to our intuition. I believe in accessible mental health care so I offer sliding scale options that go below $100. As a Chinese/Asian immigrant female therapist of color, I recognize the hurtful impact of all types of oppression on individuals and do my best to continue learning to resist oppression and decolonize therapy. I feel fortunate to call both Hong Kong and Seattle as my home. I love being a mother and connecting with humanity in art and literature.
