About My Clients
You're grieving a loss, and the people around you don't seem to fully understand. Grief can be a lonely experience that way. Struggles like infertility, chronic illness, and pet loss are often minimized. Maybe your friends have stopped checking in, or you're getting the message that you should be “over it,” whatever that means. Your grief matters, and it has no timeline. I want to help you feel seen and supported as you carry this loss.
My Background and Approach
My name is Rebecca Huval, and I’m a therapist, an artist, and a softie. I work with adults and teens through loss, because grief reveals what we hold most dear. My lived experience with infertility shapes how I practice. Together, we tailor our therapy sessions to your needs, choosing from Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), art making, and EMDR, which I’m training in. Grief can be tender, so I try to make therapy a place where you feel at ease. I stay attuned to you and grounded in the present to help you feel supported. People describe me as warm, calm, and down-to-earth. If you’re curious if we might be a good fit, please schedule a free 20-min consult. I hope to help you find the right therapist, even if that isn't me.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe mental health challenges often stem from the broken systems we struggle against daily. In a world that turns a blind eye to those in need, of course we feel like there might not be systems and people to care for us if and when we need it. This lack of a safety net can be incredibly destabilizing. For this reason, it's all the more important that we build communities of care from the ground up. That means community care, mutual aid, and simply caring for one another. I often use Narrative Therapy because of its beautiful ideas that have brought healing to so many. Narrative Therapy helps us to question the societal messaging that we breathe. It also holds that you are not the problem, the problem is the problem. This helps to put some healthy distance between you and your challenges. You can take a step back to look at the issue from a new perspective, with enough space for your wisdom to enter the conversation.
