Anxiety is an emotion characterized by feelings of fear, worried thoughts, dread, & uneasiness. Anxiety is also our bodies reaction to a threat to our well-being. These extreme feelings of anxiety can be quite distressing & often result in unwanted symptoms, behaviors, & consequences. My experience with helping individuals who struggle with anxiety is to help increase their ability to tolerate discomfort or emotional distress. Through weekly sessions, I've assisted many individuals learn skills

In working with individuals that struggle with depression, we've been able to improve their mood, stabilize emotions, & establish an increase in self-esteem by exploring what's important to them. As we explore ways to improve the relationship an individual has with their emotions & thoughts, many learn how to accept, rather than avoid or battle, painful thoughts & emotions so they no longer have the same impact on their life.

There can be so many challenges that one might experience around body image, binge eating, emotional eating, constant food worry, or feeling trapped in a food prison. Eating challenges are connected to all of what makes us human: relationships, family, work, our search for fulfillment - & it all starts with the mind. By focusing on transforming psychological patterns that cause these issues in the first place, you're on your way to healing your relationship with food & body challenges.

I utilize ACT to help individuals struggling with depression/anxiety to get "unstuck" from difficult thoughts & feelings, to be more accepting of themselves & their experiences, & to live life in a way that matters most to them.

I utilize DBT interventions with those struggling with depression/anxiety to create a toolbox of skills to help manage & reduce some of the distress caused by those mood disorders. Access to such a toolbox provides individuals with immediate relief & can reduce feelings of hopelessness. Individuals will be able to learn skills for acceptance of what they can't change (their past, other people) & adaptive change skills for what they can control.

The foundation of CBT is the connection between emotions, thoughts, & actions. By implementing CBT for clients struggling with depression/anxiety, you're able to learn about cognitive patterns & apply effective skills that challenge those negative thoughts, actions, or beliefs. When you're able to apply these skills to your everyday life & change your thoughts, your behaviors tend to follow.
