About My Clients
My ideal client is someone who needs a space to talk openly and honestly about grief, trauma, disability, chronic illness, reproductive issues, and other hard topics. They are looking for a therapist who will not flinch in the face of their past or their feelings. Let me provide you with a space to talk about the things you can't discuss with other people. You don't have to put on a brave face with me. Let's talk about these things, together.
My Background and Approach
My approach is evidence-based, utilizing ACT, relational-cultural trauma therapy, and somatic therapy. We will work together to integrate all aspects of you because healing isn’t just about talking with your mind, but about reconnecting with your body and its wisdom. My goal is to help you not only identify and feel your feelings, but to give you real, usable skills you can carry with you long after our sessions. I have 5 years combined experience counseling in Utah and Oregon, primarily in a government setting. I hold a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Utah State University. I have post graduate degree training in Trauma Counseling through University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I offer counseling in English and Russian. Having spent much of my own life living in and navigating dynamically different cultures, I know how intimidating it can be to open up, especially for those of us whose backgrounds make it difficult to talk about emotions or to be vulnerable.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that therapy works best when you feel like you’re talking to an actual human being. My goal is to create a welcoming space, that is comfortable and casual. I also believe that humor has a place in counseling, and I try to utilize that in sessions (where appropriate). I believe that people are more than just labels (ethnicity, disability, gender identity, etc.) and I seek to find the person that exists where all those identities intersect.
