About My Clients
I am committed to supporting folks to strengthen their mind-body connection and their self-regulation through therapeutic relationship. I am interested in working with adults navigating anxiety, depression, identity development, relationship and family issues, and processing traumatic events. I aim to orient my practice towards empowerment and liberation. My clinical style balances compassion with directness.
My Background and Approach
My practice is trauma-informed by Polyvagal, DBT, and feminist theories. Coming from this lens, session work is collaborative, and often involves verbal processing integrated with body based re-learning, as well as examining the impact of larger systems on your life experience. I incorporate behavioral skills-based work to help you make actionable changes. I worked in psychiatry for five years with folks diagnosed with PTSD and co-occurring substance use. I have now transitioned to Individual and group therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I identify strongly as a feminist therapist. Patriarchy impacts all gender identities, and I help clients to explore how their gender identity and socialized norms impact their lived expeirence. White supremacy is also deeply entrenched in the field of psychotherapy, and I aim to examine and disrupt these patters with humilty, as I learn and grow as a person and counselor. I believe that clients are capable of growth when they are able to confront issues with bravery, honesty, accountability, and self compassion. Our communitites can help create containers where these things are possible. Clients grow in relationship with their communitites, as well as within the counseling relationship. Personal growth is not an island.
