About My Clients

ADHD is not just a kid thing. It affects adults and it can take a toll on relationships. Rebecca focuses on helping adults with ADHD find ways to have healthy, thriving relationships even if symptoms of ADHD are making that difficult. Additionally, Rebecca works well with people struggling with traumatic experiences, anxiety and high functioning depression. You may be killing it at work, but your outward success does not always reflect how you feel on the inside.

My Background and Approach

Bachelors of Science: Psychology (2005), Iowa State University Master's of Arts: Marriage and Family Therapy (2009), Argosy University Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (2015) Experience working in multiple settings (residential, in home, outpatient, community based, school based) and multiple age ranges (children, adolescence, and adults) Currently loves working with young adults and couples (married, dating and engaged) I help people by identifying patterns from an outside perspective, offering solutions for habits and skills that serve you and your hopes for the future, and helping you make sense out of and have power over traumatic memories from the past. Trained intensively in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (mindfulness and skill building) and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (mind body approach to healing from trauma).

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

In the midst of life's stresses, it is often hard to see the bigger picture of your life, where you are heading and what might be in the way. It can feel like you are trapped in a maze and you do not know where the dead ends are or what you are doing to keep yourself stuck. I see therapy like a chance to get a bird's eye view of the maze, a chance to step out of the trenches of the day and reflect on where you ultimately want to end up and how you can best do that. As a relationship therapist, I believe that relationships affect mental health and mental health affects relationships. Finding effective ways to communicate and connect matters. Whether you come to therapy alone or with a partner, I think it is worthwhile to examine your relational health and find ways to improve it. My job is not to give you advice or tell you what to do. It is to be with you, offer an outside perspective, teach you skills and solutions, and help you process and make meaning out of your life story.
