About My Clients
I work with teens and adults trying to figure out what’s happened, who they are in this moment, and where they want to go from here. With a warm, straightforward, and affirming approach, I can help you work toward goals that are focused on you (no generic agendas here!) and get to a place where 'being' just feels better. I really enjoy working with teens, young adults, LGBTQ+ adolescents, and anyone looking to heal and recover from trauma.
My Approach to Helping
My approach to therapy is trauma-driven and client-centered, with a splash of humor. I have specialized training in trauma - complex, acute, childhood, and secondary trauma - as well as trauma-processing techniques (EMDR, TF-CBT). I'm also experienced working with anxiety, depression, adolescent identity struggles, and school-related difficulties. As a clinician with 20+ years of experience in public schools, I have a deep appreciation for the struggles that both students and educators face today. In our work together, my hope is that you will: feel heard, seen, & valued; be able to say what you need to say (really, anything - you do you!); find compassion for yourself; gain insight & coping strategies to help you feel balanced & well. My Values as a Therapist
My practice name, “Evolve Counseling”, reflects a belief in the inherent capacity for change, adaptation, and progress within each individual. Therapy is not just about addressing current challenges, but also about embracing the potential for growth and positive change. My focus is on guiding clients through this process of personal evolution. I offer a safe and nurturing environment where clients can explore their authentic selves, work through difficult experiences, tap into their strengths, and evolve into a more empowered and resilient version of themselves. I believe mental health care should be accessible for all of us, and Evolve Counseling is culture, identity, and LGBTQ+ affirming. You deserve a safe, inclusive space to say what you need to say and just be you! Our work together is serious, but I also believe therapy should not be a constant dark and gloomy experience. We'll laugh and cuss together, cut up and be real together - we need a bit of light in therapy for growth!
