About My Clients
I specialize in working with individuals from BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, and first-generation backgrounds who are done navigating personal identity, familial, or relational struggles by themselves. I work with you to identify goals, patterns of behavior, and personal strengths that can help you to move forward in a way that helps you to feel your best. I incorporate systemic and social justice lenses frequently into therapy to acknowledge and examine the pressures at-play in your life.
My Background and Approach
I work from a client-centered and collaborative therapy approach. I view the therapy space as a metaphorical “ship”, where each of us takes turns “steering” the session. I trust that you will move us toward topics that are top-of-mind for you and also recognize that there will be times when my facilitation is more needed in session. As a naturally inquisitive person, I guide our sessions by asking exploratory questions and expressing curiosities and perspectives that have not been considered before. I also work with you to uncover what is not being said to help us get to a deeper level. I practice primarily from an ACT, CBT, gender-affirming, and trauma-informed perspective, while also incorporating modalities like DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused to help clients make progress toward change.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I value authenticity, integrity, intersectionality, joy, and open communication, especially in the therapeutic space. I believe every individual deserves to have joy in their lives, and I feel honored to help others in their journeys to find this. Coming from a social work background, I believe in the individual’s right to self-determination and know that my role in your movement toward change is to help you find your inner strengths and values. I hope you leave our sessions feeling supported, challenged, and just a little bit lighter.
