My Background and Approach
I am a licensed mental health counselor, certified bereavement counselor and gerontologist, and I am completing my Ph.D. dissertation in social work. I have experience working with a diverse population made up of different genders, sexual orientations, ages, and cultures, ethnicities, races, and mental health diagnoses. I believe that therapy is meant to help people move closer to their potential. I take a psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral approach in therapy to help you break down those defense mechanisms and cognitive distortions that are blocking your happiness. After the initial assessment, the main focus turns to developing a strong therapeutic relationship and achieving your goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe change is always possible, but sometimes we all need just a little help. Human beings instinctively gravitate towards happiness, but at times feel stuck with achieving this goal. It is then wise to seek assistance from a professional who can help come up with some answers to produce positive changes in your life. I will assist you in recognizing your blind spots as well as understanding where they originated. As a result, you'll be able to move forward at an accelerated pace and no longer be stopped by them.
