Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Norwalk, CA
I use Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in conjunction with other therapies because it is aimed at changing thought patterns which affect behaviors. I believe it is extremely effective to treat anxiety and depression but can also be used for a variety of other issues. I have been utilizing CBT to work with clients to address a variety of issues because it is such a universal therapy.
I use eclectic therapy with most of my clients because it incorporates a variety of therapeutic principles and philosophies in order to create the ideal treatment program that meets the specific needs of each client. Eclectic therapy allows me more freedom to tailor interventions that are tailored to each client. I've been practicing eclectic therapy for over 15 years.
Since beginning my career in Social Work, I've strived to understand each client’s background, ethnicity, and belief system. I incorporate cultural sensitivity into my work to accommodate and respect differences in opinions, values, and attitudes of various cultures. I use my cultural sensitivity to gain and maintain cultural competence. I believe this is especially important when the client's culture differs from mine.
Everyone experiences events in their lives that may turn their world upside down. Adjusting to these crisis can be difficult but I am here to help clients navigate these changes.
I have over 10 years experience working with the LGBTQAI community. While I do not identify as a member of the community, I am a dedicated ally who understands the issues faced by this community.
