EMDR is focused on healing trauma wounds by using eye movement, and accessing content that is difficult to access with traditional talk therapy.
EFT focuses on adult relationships and attachment/bonding. It is designed to address stress in relationships through the lens of emotional availability, responsiveness, and engagement. This may sound like a lot, or very unfamiliar, but I will be with you each step of the way.
Experiential therapy supplements traditional talk therapy by helping you process issues through creativity and new experiences.
My primary experience is in working with couples in recovery from infidelity, those who are negotiating their sexual ethics, and those who need help sorting and healing from the "junk" that can pile up between two people in a long-term relationship. I want to help you connect with yourself and your partner on a deeper emotional level, hold each other, make amends, and find the you and the relationship you deserve.
I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, as well as ego state approaches. We will use a mixture of physiological awareness, emotional processing, and inner healing work on the events that have been stressful or traumatic for you - recent or historical.
I came out later in life, fighting my way through years of conservative religious conditioning to find and embrace my authentic self. And that was just the beginning! I have learned so much about queer identity, trans issues, and the intersections of race, gender, sexual orientation. I feel knowledgeable of these issues, but I approach each client and each session with humility and a willingness to listen and learn.
