About My Clients
Over the past several years I have had the privilege of working with individuals experiencing psychosis, symptoms related to complex trauma, addiction, family conflict, grief and chronic illness. I also have extensive experience working with individuals living with mood disorders, such as bipolar and depression, as well as family members supporting their loved ones in managing symptoms.
My Background and Approach
I'm a licensed clinical social worker with a Master in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Bachelor of Education and Social Policy from Northwestern University. I have worked in the mental health field since 2016, including providing crisis counseling, therapy, case management, and outreach in Portland, Oregon. I approach therapy first and foremost from a strengths based and relational perspective and strongly believe in the healing power of connection. I draw from a variety of theories and modalities including internal family systems, dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and narrative therapy. I draw from critical race theory and feminist theory to continually work towards providing trauma informed and anti-oppressive care.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It is a privilege and an honor to work with my clients. Every day I get to witness the resilience and strength that it takes to navigate a world filled with uncertainty and challenge. In addition to my work as a therapist, I also have particular interest in supporting individuals who have experienced marginalization and oppression and advocating for systemic change. This includes working with individuals who live outside and supporting mutual aid groups. I believe that housing, healthcare and safety are human rights, and continue to work as an outreach worker and case manager in the time I am not providing individual therapy.
