About My Clients
I currently provide therapy for women of color and professionals who identify with perfectionistic traits, the need to people-please, and/or struggle with setting and maintaining boundaries. Through working together, my hope is that you will increase your self-awareness and confidence, develop healthy decision-making and boundary setting, and overall improve your physical functioning and emotional well-being in relation to your mental health.
My Background and Approach
I approach work with clients through traditional therapeutic modalities such as ART(see below for more about what this is), CBT, DBT skills, relational therapy, solution-focused based and trauma-focused frameworks, to name a few. Throughout our sessions together, I emphasize the importance of integrative health and wellness through holistic approaches such as—mindfulness and somatic practices, meditations, yoga practices, and information behind the nutritional value for overall healthy functioning and wellbeing. I am trained in accelerated resolution therapy (ART). ART is a form of rapid-eye-movement therapy where the therapist guides the client to replace negative images in the mind that cause the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress with positive images of the client’s choosing. The goal is to reduce the effect of trauma and other psychological stressors. ART is helpful for individuals experiencing anxiety and stress, depression, or post traumatic stress.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe acknowledging and addressing the mind-body connection is crucial to effective and long-term healing. Connecting our thoughts and emotions to our physical sensations, what we are consuming on a daily basis, and the activities and habits we partake is a largely addressed in therapy with me.
