I view my role as supporting your journey of recognizing the wisdom you already possess, and noticing the courage you hold to act on it.
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Springfield, OH
I have experience helping folks heal from painful/traumatizing past experiences. I am trained in two modalities which are considered beneficial for treating trauma: EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) therapy and IFS (Internal Family Systems) therapy. When it comes to treating PTSD, I value following my client's lead, so that the pacing is healing and not re-traumatizing for them.
Due to the way spirituality/religion is at times used as a weapon, I am passionate about helping people heal from emotional wounds imposed in the religious context. The modalities I have received training in, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) therapy and IFS (Internal Family Systems) therapy, can be beneficial tools in addressing this pain.
Anxiety is an area I have a great deal of experience with, both in my professional life and in my personal life. It is powerful to see folks begin to harness the wisdom their body's fear/anxiety cues are giving them, without feeling overwhelmed by these anxious feelings.
The amount of training I have received in this model of therapy permits me to call myself an IFS-informed clinician. I have been utilizing IFS with some of my clients for about 1 year now and I work with a certified IFS therapist for my own counseling. I am scheduled to begin the Level 1 IFS training in May 2022 and I look forward to sharpening this skill through additional training.
I received my initial EMDR training in March/April of 2021. I utilize this modality with my current clients who express an interest and have seen positive results thus far, including reduction in flashbacks.
