About My Clients
My clients often feel unseen, unappreciated, misunderstood, or may struggle with a non-existent or a routine sex life. I see Individuals, couples and partners of various formations who worry they're not normal. People struggling with shame, anxiety, fear, trauma histories, communication or relationship differences find my warm supportive approach to be a breath of fresh air. Partners considering opening up their relationship but are afraid of change without safety.
My Background and Approach
When working with Clients on their intimacy issues, I love to go deep with them to address their anxieties, fears, and insecurities. I am an eclectic Clinician who prefers to utilize a variety of tools and approaches for each of my Client's unique needs, including things like Sensate Focus, Gottman Method, DBT/CBT and Trauma-Focused CBT. My overall approach is one that is Sex-Positive, Kink/BDSM affirming, CNM/Polyamory knowledgeable, Strengths-Based, Solution-Focused, and highlights using Constructive Discussion that helps my Clients hold themselves accountable. In addition, I've had training in Brainspotting, which can be a useful tool helping clients get unstuck and access emotional issues they're struggling to get past. I believe that you are the expert on your own life and like working with Clients to learn skills and tools that change how they show up in their relationships. Above all, my style is collaborative and I like to co-create an approach that works with my clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone has an individual responsibility to themselves that encourages positive change and growth at any time in their lives. I think we develop insecurities and mental health issues because we weren't taught a healthy way to manage it or overcome those difficult times in our lives. I believe that Sex is normal and conversations around it should not be taboo or consumed with shame, embarrassment or guilt. We owe it to ourselves and the people in our lives to continually work towards empowered growth. I believe that improvement is necessary because we're worth it. The first step is learning to talk about uncomfortable things and being able to admit them to ourselves and others. Without authenticity, we cannot feel truly seen and understood by others. People are a reflection of their history and experiences and an important part of therapy can be learning how your story got you to where you are now and might shape where you want to go in the future.
