About My Clients
I enjoy working with adult individuals working on issues like grief, depression, trauma, anxiety, and adjustment disorders. I have been a military wife for quite a while so understand military culture and stresses. I look at treatment as a partnership with a preference of using humor along with the serious moments to develop coping, perseverance, and hope. I enjoy educating people to foster more acceptance of self.
My Background and Approach
I have worked in the field in multiple ways and with different populations. I have worked with at risk youth, military members and their families, and in a community mental health setting. I focus on building trust and understanding of clients. I have been trained and working on certification on EMDR which is an evidence based practice. I have used it for trauma as well as other issues. For those not interested in EMDR, I use CBT, DBT, and attachment approaches. I try to educate people on mental health and how our body works in order to gain self-compassion.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that people are all unique, and work to understand how my own personal standings can affect clients. I am have worked years with Susan G Komen raising money for cancer education and grants. I try to support our local diverse community that I appreciate so much as a clinician and as a regular person.
