About My Clients
I’m so glad you are here. We all have times in our lives when we struggle, feel overwhelmed, feel stuck, or have trouble in our relationships-it’s time to make space for you. You deserve to live a meaningful and balanced life. We will work together to help you strengthen your own well-being and relationships so that you may find contentment and balance in all aspects of your life.
My Background and Approach
I enjoy working with adults of all ages (18+), and believe that the therapy process should be an active partnership between client and therapist. We'll start with our relationship, to build trust and openness. My approach is person-centered, and I draw on my training in EMDR and other evidence-based modalities such as cognitive-behavioral approaches, mindfulness and attachment-based therapy. I am a fully Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in North Carolina. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and my Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee. I have been fortunate to work in a variety of settings such as group practice, a university counseling center, hospital, and as an instructor of Social Work at the university level.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The decision to begin therapy is not an easy one. I work to create a non-judgmental, safe environment to promote emotional healing and foster personal growth. I take a whole-person approach, weaving the importance of emotional, physical, mental, social, spiritual, and environmental factors contributing to your health into our therapeutic work. There are many cultural considerations and systems of oppression that impact your functioning and how you relate to your world. I strive to be inclusive and informed. I am LGBTQ+ affirming. When I am not working, I love spending time with my spouse, three children, and dog. I love yoga, movement, travel, hiking, cooking, and sewing. I am also an active volunteer at various community organizations.
