About My Clients

Socioeconomic challenges such as financial stress, housing instability, and limited access to resources can be very frustrating. When accompanied by exposure to various forms of trauma, these challenges can seem like the end of the world, but it doesn't have to be. Working with a therapist who is knowledgable about these unique challenges is the missing piece to helping you navigate these issues alongside your mental health concerns.

My Background and Approach

I am a dedicated student intern therapist committed to making a positive impact in underserved communities. I am a graduate student in the Counseling Psychology program at Bowie State University and I am passionate about providing accessible mental health support to those who need it most. My journey in this field is driven by a deep sense of empathy and social justice. I understand that navigating life's challenges can be especially tough for individuals in underserved communities. I approach therapy from a culturally competent, client-centered, experiential, intentional, and creative perspective, valuing your unique experiences and perspective. Together, we'll work to address your concerns, build coping skills, and foster resilience. I am committed to creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you can freely express yourself. I believe that everyone deserves access to quality mental health care and I am eager to help you achieve your mental health goals.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As a therapist, my approach is influenced by several core beliefs: 1) Respect and Empathy: I believe in treating every individual with respect and empathy. Regardless of your background, experiences, or beliefs, you will always be met with understanding and compassion. 2) Cultural Sensitivity: I am committed to creating a culturally sensitive and inclusive space where your identity and experiences are respected and acknowledged. 3) Collaborative Partnership: Therapy is collaborative journey. We will work together as a team, setting goals and tracking progress to ensure your needs are met. 4) Non-judgmental Environment: It is my goal to meet clients where they are on their mental health journey. This is a safe space for exploration, self-discovery, and healing. 5) Continuous Growth: I am committed to my own personal and professional growth, regularly attending workshops, training, and seeking supervision to enhance my skills and knowledge in the field of therapy.
