About My Clients
My clients can be anyone, but I tend to most work with people struggling with their identities, struggling with connection, and working through transitional stages in life. My clients are facing the world and trying to figure out their place in it. My clients are trying to define themselves, and make connections with others. Most importantly, my clients want to work towards a future they are excited to experience.
My Background and Approach
My background before pursuing therapy was in theater, and as such I love to work with all kinds of feelings, both big and small. As a therapist, I draw from several theorists but primarily enjoy working in the psychodynamic realm which allows us to explore your inner most self. I also utilize a person centered approach that puts you, the client, in charge. Where you lead, I follow! I enjoy exploring issues of identity, gender, sexuality, connection, and exploring how they impact the here and now for my clients. Beyond that, I find a lot of value in exploring my clients’ past experiences, and how they have shaped the person they are today, and how we may inform the future and the present from those experiences. Most of all, I want to go wherever my clients take us on their journey through therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the fundamental dignity of all people, and that our society does not currently value that principle. I am a strong believer in the rights of LGBTQ+ people, and that our society does not protect them enough. I believe in racial justice, and that we have not done enough to achieve it. On an individual level, I believe humans are all unique with individual desires and needs, which do not always align with societal expectations. I believe that most people crave some sort of connection, familial, romantic, friendship, or more. I also believe that a large number of mental health struggles center around those connections breaking, being strained, or being unavailable. And finally, I believe in people as a whole. We have the capacity to do great things when we support one another
