About My Clients
My clients often feel that they don't "fit in." Sometimes when we live many identities, we become very good at seeing the seams in them. This is an experience many of us know from having to live between cultures—whether as first-/second-generation immigrants, as the only queer kid in class, or when leaving a high-demand religion. I hope to help you become more yourself—both in your relationships and with yourself—without criticizing yourself for what you need.
My Background and Approach
I work from an eclectic approach that is primarily relational and psychodynamic-- to examine and explore relational patterns and how they affect your view of yourself and others. I also draw from AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) to deepen and stay with emotions, and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) to help regulate emotions when they feel overwhelming. I approach this work through a feminist, anti-oppressive lens. We'll define the difficulties you're facing, develop a collaborative treatment plan, and begin addressing what feels most pressing. As our relationship deepens, we'll explore patterns that may be harder to see—like shutting down, adapting to others, or hiding your needs. Many clients see some change in the first months, while other parts of the work unfold and change with time.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a lesbian/queer-identified second-generation Indian American woman from Brooklyn. I enjoy coffee shops and rabbit holes.
