About My Clients
My favorite clients find me because they've tried it all. They're exhausted. They work too hard. Rest is a foreign idea. They eat to comfort themselves, and then hate themselves for what they ate. They look for answers outside themselves--in a relationship, in their family, in food, mindless scrolling on the internet--hoping to find themselves, who they truly are. I love partnering with these exhausted people--because I am them. But I do know some secrets--self-compassion is the beginning.
My Background and Approach
I use a systemic approach to treat eating issues, relationship issues, and spiritual issues. What were you taught? Do you still want these beliefs? Maybe the culture has said your body is wrong. Maybe your mom hated herself so you should, too. I use existential and narrative therapies to make space to ask the deep questions all humans have: why am I here? Why can't I find a purpose in my life that brings me meaning? Why do I cause myself so much suffering? Whether you're deconstructing your religion, or finding yourself overwhelmed by everyday life itself--I create a space for the scary, ugly questions that arise, with non-judgment and a gentle approach. I am trauma informed. I ethically use practices to not re-traumatize you or invade your memories w/o your consent. I use IFS (Internal Family Systems) for grounding and containment when the stories you tell become terrifying to you. With these treatments, I am honored to witness my clients heal themselves.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I support Black Lives Matter. I am an affirming and supportive ally of the LGBTQIA+ community. I support sex workers and am sex-positive. I am anti-diet culture and anti-fat phobic. I believe we are spiritual beings, in need of better internal spiritual censors and body intuition support. I was raised fundamentalist Christian, with a whole lot of spiritual abuse. I still am spiritual, but with much more inclusive spiritual beliefs.
