My Background and Approach
I believe that every thought and behavior makes sense in context. You are the expert of your own life, therefore I view my role as a collaborator. My Personal Beliefs and Interests
No matter who you are, you are capable of change. You can find healing, growth, and peace. I believe that people strive for goodness. However, this may become manipulated, skewed or not make sense in a given context. Nonetheless, people act in rational ways that make sense to them. I do not view my clients as the problem, instead I distinguish the problem as apart from them. I also believe that identities are socially constructed. People are influenced by their relationships with others, society, and their culture. It is through these relationships that we begin to construct what is normal, right, wrong and different. As our beliefs develop and adapt, we form our personal identities around these. Therefore, our relationships and culture contribute to how we identify ourselves and interact in the world in both healthy and unhealthy ways.
