About My Clients

As an existentially trained therapist I believe that most people can benefit from therapy - sometimes especially those who are “OK”, “making it to the weekend,” and yet have a deep sense that something is wrong. How to live wisely and with integrity is a question perhaps more urgent than ever amidst the constant change and uncertainty all around us. More specifically, my lived experience as a nonbinary person means that I "get" what that's like in a way that cis therapists may not.

My Background and Approach

I believe that what has been harmed in relationship must be healed in relationship. When we are understood deeply by another person, it helps us understand ourselves better and opens up possibilities we may not have previously imagined. I believe in the uniqueness, dignity, and value of every person, and together we can explore who that is and who that could be, shed of trauma-informed adapting, people pleasing, and otherwise shaping yourself into what other people needed you to be. Together we can unlock the best version of you.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that therapy has its roots in ancient traditions and healing practices and was not "invented" by Freud in the 19th century. In my approach to therapy my ancestors are the sage, mystic, priest and monk moreso than the modern medical doctor, although I don't reject modern techniques or medications (in fact I greatly enjoy modern techniques like internal family systems). I am personally and professionally grounded in an intensive meditation practice and have sat or served on more than 100 days of meditation courses. For me doing therapy is a reflection of who I am and is my personal response to my own existential questions, not simply a job, although making money is required in our world. Serving others in their journey of healing is a gift and a privilege, and I hope I might have the opportunity to do that with you.
