About My Clients
I strive to be transparent with you. From the first session, it's important to understand how we can work toward your goals. I'm not the right therapist for everyone. It's a combination of experience, skills, and especially personality. We typically start with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. We need to have an awareness of what brought you here and what coping strategies are your strengths. We begin to understand the negative thoughts and triggers so we can learn healthy coping and healing.
My Background and Approach
I grew up in Pennsylvania, so that makes me either an Eagles or Steelers fan. Ideally, the championship game would be a Turnpike game. With over 30 years working with children, families, adults and groups, my experience ranges from professional knowledge of several systems such as mental health, drug and alcohol, children and youth, intellectual disability and more. Personally, I have cared for my mother who passed after a long bout with dementia as well as raising two awesome boys as a single father. My older sister and both my parents have left us, which makes me appreciate this journey we call life so much more. My goal is to work myself out of a job. I want to develop an open and trusting relationship with you so that you not only feel comfortable starting your journey, but you also begin to develop the skills and techniques you need to get the feeling of control and strength to move forward.
