About My Clients
If you are just looking to just 'get rid' of anxiety, I may not be the therapist for you. Anxiety is a smoke alarm. It scans our environment, our body, and our mind for signs of trouble. When it finds trouble, it sets off the alarm. So we need to address the fire, not the alarm. If you want to explore what it is that anxiety is trying to tell you, then I may just be the therapist for you.
My Background and Approach
I use an integrative approach in my counseling. First I hear about the client’s concerns, use active listening, and ask questions where needed to draw out the story. When both the client and I have an idea of what is going on, I will begin to integrate different approaches. These may pull from humanistic therapy, CBT, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, trauma-informed therapy, or other modalities. The appropriateness for each varies case to case.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the social work motto of 'meeting the client where they are at'. So although I have my personal beliefs, like everyone, my strongest belief is that it is the CLIENT'S beliefs that are most relevant. There is not a drop of judgement here.
