About My Clients
One of my main areas of focus is couples therapy. I am deeply passionate about learning about how relationships work and where people tend to get stuck with each other. I have a particular interest and speciality in working with less typical relationships including non-monogamy, coparents, decoupling partners, non-romantic friends, and family. In my work with individual clients, I apply principles from my work as a couples therapist, exploring and transforming relationships in client's lives.
My Background and Approach
I was trained to think of relationship conflict as an iceberg. We only see the top 10% of the iceberg on a daily basis (fighting about the dishes again!), but the other 90% of the dynamic is hidden under the surface. I help people to access and express the hidden dynamics of relationships, which often leads to significant changes in patterns that have felt immovable. I have a particular interest and speciality in working with less typical relationships including non-monogamous relationships, coparents, decoupling partners, non-romantic friends, and family members. I have training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Sex Therapy, and Discernment Counseling, a process that works with couples who don’t know whether they want to stay together.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
A bit about me: I’m queer and love working with the LGBTQ+ community. I have a background in organizing for environmental, racial, and social justice and am active in the Minneapolis music and dance communities. Spiritual practice is deeply important to me, and I am nourished by connection with the natural world, community-based spiritual events, and Buddhist teachings.
