About My Clients
I have a passion to serve immigrants, expatriates, international students and the LGBTQ+ community. I work particularly well with individuals who have difficulty finding themselves or trusting themselves, who feel constantly torn between their own needs and others’, who may be achieving but feel unfulfilled, who experience perpetual loneliness, and who are curious about why they're repeatedly involved in disappointing relationships.
My Background and Approach
I received my PhD in Clinical Psychology from Fuller Theological Seminary, an APA-accredited program, where the training pays close attention to the integration of psychology and spirituality. I have also worked in different settings (community mental health, hospital outpatient, university counseling center) with individuals of a wide age range (5-85) whose struggles and cultural backgrounds varied greatly. I did my internship and postdoctoral training at Stony Brook University Counseling and Psychological Services where I served a very diverse clientele. My style is warm, collaborative and strength-based. I am attentive to what's difficult to express in words and I value how clients feel emotionally connected with me and themselves. I can be very serious, down to hold very difficult emotions but I can also be playful. I pay attention to the context and history of clients but am also mindful of the "here and now" and meet people where they are. I offer brief and long term therapy.
