As a psychotherapist (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) for over three decades, I have had the privilege of working with clients from different walks of life, which includes, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer/questioning, asexual (LGBTQIA+), people of color, and people from diverse religious and socioeconomic backgrounds.
My Background and Approach
Reaching out and asking for help is a courageous act. Everyone’s life challenges are unique, and no one deserves to deal with them in isolation. Whether you are looking to work on a current difficulty or wanting to change old patterns, I would like to help you achieve your individual goals. Having over thirty years of clinical experience, I rely on variety of psychotherapy techniques and theories to provide optimal care. These include Somatic Experiencing, mindfulness, contemporary psychoanalysis, Jungian psychology, Trauma Resiliency Model, transpersonal psychology, cognitive therapy, and Eastern psychology.

Welcome. I’m Dr. Payam Ghassemlou, a licensed marriage and family therapist and psychotherapist providing psychotherapy in West Hollywood and Los Angeles. For more than 30 years, I have worked with gay, queer, and LGBTQ+ individuals and couples, offering a compassionate, accepting, and nonjudgmental space to explore the experiences that matter most to you. Therapy can be a place to understand yourself more deeply, develop more fulfilling relationships, work through difficult experiences, and create a life that feels more authentic and connected. My practice welcomes people of all backgrounds, identities, and relationship styles, and I am especially committed to supporting BIPOC, neurodivergent, and LGBTQ+ individuals.I offer a trauma-informed, sex-positive, and anti-oppressive therapeutic space where you can show up fully as yourself without judgment.
