About My Clients
I work with young adults and adults navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and relationship challenges. You may feel overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or unsure how to move forward. Our well-being is shaped by our thoughts, emotions, relationships, culture, and the world around us. Therapy is a space to pause, reflect, and explore your experiences with curiosity, compassion, and a deeper understanding of yourself.
My Background and Approach
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California, I bring experience in community mental health, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and treatment planning. I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, supporting people through emotional distress, anxiety, trauma, and life transitions. My background in intensive residential treatment has strengthened my ability to work with clients facing challenging circumstances while building therapeutic relationships grounded in respect and collaboration. My humanitarian work in Malawi and Brazil, along with my experience supporting children with disabilities, has deepened my understanding of how culture, relationships, and access to resources influence mental health. I integrate trauma-informed, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and Narrative Therapy to help clients explore patterns, develop practical coping tools, recognize their strengths, and find new ways forward. I offer therapy in English and Portuguese.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we are deeply connected to one another and to the world around us. Our well-being is influenced by our relationships, communities, culture, and access to opportunities and resources. I value social justice, cultural diversity, compassion, and human dignity, and believe mental health care should be accessible and respectful of each person's unique story. My commitment to these values has shaped my journey. I have contributed to psychosocial support initiatives at the Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Malawi and participated in community-based social projects in Brazilian favelas. In California, I completed Certified Nursing Assistant training through the American Red Cross and worked supporting children with disabilities. These experiences deepened my appreciation for human dignity, resilience, and connection. People are the experts of their own lives. As a therapist, I bring curiosity, humility, and an open mind, without assumptions about who you are or what you need.
