About My Clients
Loss and grief are universal. Grief can be debilitating and difficult to navigate. You may have experienced the loss of a loved one, an infant death/mischarge, relationship/marriage, job, home, pet, health, identity, family due to coming out as LGBTQ+, loss of career/self worth at retirement, empty nest. The list goes on and on. I'm no stranger to loss and grief. I understand how difficult this time can be. Let me help you find your way through this dark period of loss and grief.
My Background and Approach
I have worked as an LCSW for 15 + years helping people through difficult times in their lives. I am compassionate, caring and I want you to have a place you are able to express your grief without judgement. I want to hold space for you and your grief. The holistic approach I incorporate in my counseling is tailored to you and your needs. I have a certification as a Grief Informed Professional. I am currently working on becoming a Certified Grief Counselor and a Certified Pet Loss Grief Support Specialist. I have experienced my own devastating losses in my life that make me better able to understand where you are and how to help you all the way through your grief.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone has the right to grieve the losses they face in this life. Our society is not comfortable with displays of grief. Friend and family tell us "you should be over this by now", "move on with your life." They say these thing with good intentions. They just don't understand that those comments are not helpful. They push us away and we hide our grief because no one understands.. We have to experience our grief and sit with it as long as we need to in order to make our way through our grief. That could take days, weeks or years. The experience of grief is different for everyone. There is no right or wrong way to grieve. In the past three years I have suffered great loss and grief. I ended a 25 yr relationship which cost me my life partner, home, friends, plans for the future, everything. Then I lost my son to suicide. I know what grief feels like. I want to help you through your dark time of grief. If you would like more info just send me a message.
