About My Clients
I have a passion for working with adolescents and adults who struggle with mental health issues, and I have experiences of successfully helping many culturally diverse clients on issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, disordered eating, identity, relationship problems, acculturation, and diversity.
My Background and Approach
As we go through life, we often become disconnected from our emotions as we defend ourselves to survive; oftentimes, our adaptive responses which served us in the past may no longer work in the present, leading to a sense of stuckness. These past wounds may activate depression, anxiety, relational challenges, unhealthy coping strategies, and stress. If you find yourself struggling with dysregulated emotional system, I will help you regain a sense of balance by reconnecting with yourself and tending to your emotions. In addition to providing a safe space to work through emotions and find back your authentic self, I will also work with you to become curious about thinking patterns and behaviors, because oftentimes the stories we tell ourselves can greatly impact the way we feel, live our lives, and move through the world. Together we may explore different perspectives and seek to discover more accurate and helpful thinking patterns and coping skills that may work better for you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that as humans we all have the innate capacity to grow and heal. My role as a therapist is to empower you to access internal and external resources, and to walk alongside you to find fulfilling connections and meaning in life. As a bilingual counselor who comes from a bicultural background, I value and respect diverse intersectional backgrounds and identities, and operate from anti-oppression lens. I am fluent in both Mandarin and English; I can provide culturally sensitive (competent) therapy for clients. More specifically, my unique background enables me to work with clients by attending to relevant cultural factors and influences, such as immigration, cultural identity, acculturation, etc.
