About My Clients
My clients often face the burden of intrusive thoughts and compulsions that affect their daily lives. Even if they appear fine on the outside, the persistent anxiety, obsessions, and rituals impact their relationships, school, or work. I also help families who are looking to create functional homes through improved communication, nurturing connections, and understanding of needs and boundaries. I support children's emotional development and guide caregivers in addressing family challenges.
My Background and Approach
I use a blend of approaches, including mentalization, somatic-based techniques, mindfulness, attachment theory, as well as structural and play therapy, to help families achieve their goals. In treatment of OCD and anxiety, I use evidence-based practices such as Exposure-Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I adapt to your specific needs to help you overcome feelings of being stuck, considering your current life situation and readiness for change. I start by learning about your unique needs and goals. We tailor strategies and engage in regular sessions to reflect and nurture essential skills. Whether we work as a family or individually, I often bring humor into the room and maintain a casual atmosphere to make the process engaging and comfortable!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in offering early support for children's emotional development, equipping them with lifelong skills to express themselves, navigate their identities and relationships, and address any current and future challenges. Caregivers experience life for the first time alongside kids, so it is important for me to provide a validating and encouraging space for the caregivers to identify and lean on their strengths, break unhelpful intergenerational patterns, and tackle the tricky emotional and behavioral challenges the children they care for may face. I've always had a deep curiosity about the human experience and how it's shaped by social and structural systems. In my practice, I recognize the potential impact of these systems on our mental health, as well as that of our families and communities. While I believe that pain is an inevitable part of life, with the right support and coping strategies, it is possible to experience the joys of life and human connection.
