About My Clients

I often find that my clients have had no luck in therapy for one reason or another in the past. Just like you they wanted to try again and try something different. There is no one type of therapy or therapist that is going to work for everyone. You have to find what works for you so the healing can begin. Sadly due to the lack of success in the past clients resist opening up and sharing what is really bothering them. This is what I often find and where I start to help in the healing process.

My Background and Approach

After my time in the military and my experiences with mental healthcare I switched my educational focus from working with the body to working in the mind. During my education I took additional courses on the effects of trauma on the mind as well as others on the assessment and diagnosing of disorders. I have continued to educate myself in others areas such as domestic violence and obtain specialized training in therapeutic techniques like dialectic behavioral and art therapies. As every client has different needs I have developed my own personal approach to developing a therapeutic plan for everyone. Whether that is providing a safe and supportive environment to unload in, injecting humor into a session as needed, or taking a "calling you on your bullshit" approach. Being able to adapt to my clients needs and providing that for them in even an out of the box method has been something that my clients have responded well to and benefited from.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that everyone at some point and time in their life will need help getting through something. The difference between those who struggle for a longer period of time or come to a solution in a more comfortable speed is those who reach out for help and not try to make it through on their own. These beliefs are why I volunteer with a wide range of organizations such as Team Rubicon, The Mission Continues, Team RWB, Habitat for Humanity, and many more. Because not only is it a way for me to reach out and help others in need through a different channel, but it is rewarding for me on a personal level to continue to be of service to others. As a military veteran and a previous first responder both of these communities are important to me so I try to find ways to continue to serve them, but I will not limit myself to only working within those populations. I still believe in no one is left behind. Reach out and let's get to work.
