About My Clients
Are you struggling with addiction? Are you a loved one impacted by addiction? Are you Codependent? Help is available for you. The addict deals with shame and guilt while loved ones deal with showing tough love rather than enable. Let's sit down and develop a plan for you and/or your loved one (s). Addiction can be linked to trauma. My training in EMDR therapy is very effective for the treatment of trauma. Let's make a plan. I look forward to providing a non judgmental place for your healing.
My Background and Approach
Over 15yrs as a therapist has taught me the importance of meeting clients exactly where they are in their journey. My areas of expertise are in substance and other addictions; including couples' and family therapy. Although my expertise is in the area of addiction: I am also proficient in treating other mental health diagnoses. I'm trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) therapy. EMDR a number one best practice treatment for acute trauma. I pride myself in my abilities to use cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused and narrative therapy to guide clients through changing thinking patterns to gain awareness needed for behavioral change. During my first session with a client I believe in spending time getting to know my client. Additionally, the first session will involve an evaluation of symptoms and a plan to address them in a manner that will help you get your life back on track. You will leave with at least one coping skill you can use right away.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My philosophies are “ Learn to live life on life’s terms” and “ You’re never defined by your worst moment” My philosophies represent the lessons I’ve learned through my own life journey. We often found ourselves in situations that we had no control like our family of origin. Consider, your presence in the family was to become resilient and guide the members into a better place. I believe we can unlearn unhealthy behaviors and negative thinking patterns. Through my own journey, I have learned that “change” can happen and life can begin anew. My favorite pastimes are reading, traveling, enjoying outdoor activities and meeting new people. My practice is another opportunity for me to meet new people and hear their life stories. Narrative therapy is about changing a negative and painful story into a story of strength and recovery. If you believe I can help you change your life story, feel free to contact me.
