About My Clients

I uses a wide range of techniques to help clients reach their goals; specializing in working with survivors of trauma and individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, loss, and identity struggles. When working with couples, she uses the Gottman method to collaboratively create goals and help each partner develop tools to address conflicts and improve communication and understanding.

My Background and Approach

When looking for a therapist, finding someone who feels like the right “fit” is always important. In the first few sessions, we’ll figure out if we are a good fit and talk about your interests, struggles, and strengths. My job is to help you identify your goals and to support you in strengthening and developing the skills you need to reach those goals. The methods I use depend on each client or couples' unique needs, where you are in your journey, and what works best for you. As someone who has been on the other side of a therapist’s couch, I know that even thinking about goals can make a person feel lost and alone. Rest assured, I am here to meet you where ever you are in your journey. We’ll try different techniques (CBT homework, journaling, letter writing, meditation... to name a few) and see what clicks and what doesn’t. My job is ultimately to work myself out of a job as the therapy process allows us to collaboratively work toward your goals.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As a queer, mixed-race, indigenous, and Latinx individual, I know the challenges of having different identities, the importance of honoring roots, and the importance of forging my own path forward. Early in my training, I was drawn to the trauma-informed, intersectional, and feminist counseling models because they validate the unique experiences of individuals of all genders, cultures, and spiritualities. They respect clients as collaborators and illuminate societal/systemic injustices and the way each of our experiences/identities intersect with our mental health. These models still form the foundation of my practice today, as I incorporate modalities such as CBT, mindfulness, and DBT.
