About My Clients
Is anxiety, depression, or trauma taking over your life? My clients are a very diverse group, but they all seem to share this thought. In addition, they experience related issues such as insomnia, procrastination, substance abuse, relationship problems, or communication difficulties. They also prefer a collaborative approach so that they can make important decisions about the path of their therapy.
My Background and Approach
I have many years of experience in mental health agencies, substance use treatment programs, domestic violence shelters, schools, and crisis programs. I have worked with all ages and many diverse groups. Because of this, I have an extensive toolkit, an understanding of issues over a person's lifetime, and an appreciation of diversity. I have seen and experienced the results of trauma of many types and severities, and I can offer a choice of ways to deal with it. My final goal for you is to help you explore your own values and plan strategies that will help you target them.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Without the various instruments playing their parts, the symphony would be nothing but a simple boring tune. In the same way, I think an experience of diversity is essential for my appreciation of life. I prefer to work with all ages, groups, concerns, and members of different communities. My criterion is only whether or not I can provide the services that they need. Although I offer tools and strategies, and even advice at times, I want my clients to be in charge of their own therapy. We will always collaborate on a treatment plan and review and/or revise it as frequently as necessary. Finally, because of my work and personal experience, I have a special interest in survivors of abuse and other forms of trauma, and I am working continuously to improve my skills in this area.
