My Background and Approach
Trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT), I am affiliated with the Couples Center. I have a masters in Integral Counseling Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies, plus training and experience in Hakomi and Drama Therapy. My work is informed by a decade’s experience as a bodyworker and reflects a deep understanding of improvisation and play from years of professional acting. Key ideologies for my work are: Hakomi and Re-Creation of the Self. Hakomi is a mindfulness-centered, body-oriented and experiential approach to psychotherapy. Re-Creation of the Self views the self as innately whole, expansive and resourced. R-CS offers a map for shifting out of fragmented and illusory trance states that get in the way of the ideal self.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Just being alive can be activating these days. We interact with systems of oppression, environmental destruction, the forces of capitalism. Not everyone has access to therapy, and therapy is generally centered around white ideology and world view. I believe in therapy. The healing that we do on an individual level can have a ripple effect. Therapy can heal complex traumas from the past, setting people free from unhealthy patterns. My focus is on relationships, which have the potential for deep healing. When home becomes a sanctuary, the world looks safer as a result. Some personal facts: I love to bike, hike, dance, act and see theater. I lead a weekly drama therapy group with incarcerated folks in Tracy, CA.
