About My Clients

Maybe you are wondering if your grief is normal because some days you feel like you are “going crazy.” Whether your loss was last month or years ago, grief can cause emotionally and physically distressing symptoms related to anxiety and depression. There is hope in finding relief during this time of intense pain!

My Background and Approach

I know the pain of loss, both personally and professionally. Compassionate grief counseling will help you find your way through the pain. During integrative therapy sessions, you learn coping skills and practical strategies based on current brain and behavioral science. This customized approach addresses aspects of body, mind, and spirit using clearly defined goals with achievable steps. I am committed to building a trusting relationship that honors your unique perspective as an individual. I have worked in health care settings for nearly 30 years, with a focus on midlife and older adults, cancer patients, women’s health, and hospice families. I have advanced training in Complicated Grief Therapy though Columbia University. I also serve my community as a registered yoga teacher and meditation teacher, specializing in restorative and senior yoga for all abilities.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Community service is an important part of my life. I provide free family caregiver workshops for area churches and other groups. I serve on the board of a breast cancer nonprofit and I interview "local folks who are making a difference in the community" for my podcast, People of JoCo. I especially enjoy volunteering with hospice for the annual Camp Courage event for grieving children. I advocate for inclusive policies that support LGBTQ teens at our local high school and LGBTQ older adults in long term residential nursing care. I help facilitate a grief support group for family members of substance-related crime victims. I also host a Facebook group for local adults who are grieving: Johnston County Grief Support

I have experience with the following
  • Agnosticism
  • Buddhism
  • Christianity
  • Interfaith
