About My Clients
On the outside, you appear to be holding it together well, but on the inside, you no longer feel alive. Your body feels heavy with unspoken grief and your mind circles around the same all-consuming worries day in and day out. Relationships begin to unravel, and you don't know how to move forward because the pain tethers you to your loss. You're looking for help to find your way through the distress. I will support you as you learn who you are after the loss and will provide deep listening.
My Background and Approach
With over 10 years of experience working with people suffering from life-limiting diseases and through the loss of my sibling to death, I provide an understanding presence and deep listening. As we slowly process difficult emotions, your capacity to grieve without overwhelm will grow with time. We will regulate the nervous system and make space for your pain. I offer genuine warmth and authenticity that comes from deep and ongoing work on myself, and I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the real reason for change. I will not rush you, but will remain curious about the stories beneath the surface. I will accompany you in all of the uncertainty of grief, witnessing your pain and walking beside you as you find renewed connection to yourself and others. We will go at a pace that allows you to tap into grief without drowning in it. I work from a psychodynamic framework in which we explore what lies below the surface - emotions, family history, and behavioral patterns.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe every person has the innate capacity to heal and I believe that we are beautiful in all of our differences. My mission is to support people in restoring relationships with self and others, finding wholeness of mind, body, and spirit. I come from an Evangelical faith background but have done significant personal work to untangle harmful religious messages that have shaped my sexuality, identity, values, and relationships. I believe in creating space for questions and uncertainty as we navigate the spiritual world and come to a deeper understanding of ourselves. I welcome all forms of spirituality or faith (or none at all). I welcome diversity, including that of sexuality, gender expression, race, ethnicity, relationship structures, religion, immigration status, and socioeconomic status. I have experience using interpreters and strive to make therapy financially accessible to all through the use of a sliding scale.
