About My Clients
I help people who wish to improve their quality of life but are held back by past experiences, difficult emotions, and negative thoughts or patterns that are no longer serving them. I encourage individuals to be curious about themselves so that they can gain the skills to live a healthier and happier life. Some things that I know for sure are that life is imperfect, people are extremely resilient, and no one should go through tough times alone.
My Background and Approach
I received my Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Central Florida (UCF) in May 2021. Since then, I have obtained my Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA) credential. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I worked as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) since 2013 facilitating therapy groups. As a recreation therapist, I worked in inpatient psychiatric hospitals and in the prison system. I utilize a strength-based approach which means believing people are inherently resourceful and resilient. For many, it can take assistance from a therapist to better understand and utilize these inner resources. I also draw from cognitive-behavioral theories. These are evidence-based methods that put an emphasis on the relationship between one’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a therapist – and as a person, I utilize compassion, humor, and a non-judgmental approach. I have worked on a suicide hotline, within the field of death and dying, and in the prison system with death row inmates in crisis. These experiences have shaped me as a clinician in being able to provide well rounded care to all groups and individuals I serve. I believe that feeling supported, working to understand oneself, and embracing those imperfections of life can truly lead to a more fulfilling life.
