About My Clients
I worked in community mental health for 3 years and recently have almost 9 years experience as a therapist in higher education. I grew up outside of the US and cherish learning about other cultures. I have experience helping folks with anxiety, depression, life transitions, decision-making, relationship issues, grief, psychosis, and identity exploration.
My Background and Approach
I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Self Compassion tools to help folks to explore their internal experiences as a part of shaping their ways of being in the world. I like to imagine that my clients and I are curious, nonjudgmental, compassionate social scientists, collaborating to understand their challenges and strengths in order to meet their goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Sometimes we find ourselves wishing that things could be better. We may not know exactly how we want things to change or how to enact that change, but there is a part of us that hopes that things will improve. I consider my role as a therapist to be offering a safe, supportive, nonjudgmental space where we can understand your challenges and strengths in order to create positive change in your life. In my work, I strive to help people recognize and validate not only their specific, individual challenges, but also the impact of systems that may devalue their identities and experiences. I identify as a fat, body positive therapist who believes that we are all inherently worthy.
