About My Clients
You may be standing at the edge of something: a season-ending, a new beginning, the pull of your own voice growing stronger. You may be someone who has held it all together for everyone else, who knows how to keep going, even when you’re running on empty. You may carry grief, fear, or a feeling that there’s more to you than what the world has made room for.
My Background and Approach
Therapy with me is a place to rest the weight. A place to sort through the tangled threads, to listen for the signals your body has been whispering, and to find language for the things you’ve long kept silent. It’s a place to come home to yourself. Together, we’ll tend to the root system of your life, nurturing the foundational needs that often go unmet. We’ll honor your resilience, making space for change and gently choosing the path that lets you grow toward what you love.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that any freedoms I am afforded as a white queer woman have been secured through the labor and activism of Indigenous people, Black women, and Trans folks. Many psychological theories have been co-opted by white researchers and misrepresented through the lens of Western individualism. While many of these approaches have merit and can be helpful, they are also incomplete. Traumas that impact a community must be healed in community, and individual therapy is insufficient to address the systemic problems. My approach draws from trauma-informed care, body-based practices, and liberation-focused frameworks. I incorporate principles from motivational interviewing, ACT, and family systems theory to support clients in reconnecting with their spark, voice, and creativity. I am an LGBTQIA+ affirming, sex worker-allied, and kink-affirming provider. You are my other me. - Luis Valdez
