About My Clients
My clients are individuals from ages 12 and up who come to therapy to work on life stressors, coping strategies, boundary setting, and self-esteem and identity in a safe and supportive environment. I love to welcome clients of all identities into this space to talk about some of the harder things in life. I have a passion for working with clients that are open to having some fun in counseling as well. So if you love video games or creating art, let's have fun on your mental health journey!
My Background and Approach
I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, in 2019. I recently graduated with a Master of Arts in Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. During my graduate program, I got to work remotely with individuals from all over the state of Texas from all walks of life. Meeting so many different people and hearing their stories was such a rewarding experience. Creating a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive environment is my top priority, and I hope you will trust me with your story and experiences. During our time together, we may explore past and current behavior patterns, relationships, thought patterns, and your own goals for the future. We may use activities like gaming or art in a creative way to see yourself in a more positive light, gain confidence and a sense of self, and tackle your negative thought patterns and behaviors. Let's have some fun along the way!
My Values as a Therapist
I personally support organizations and movements that fight against the stigma around mental health, protecting BIPOC populations, and the LGBTQIA+ community. The mental health community has notoriously catered to white, heterosexual, and cisgender populations, often norming our assessments and techniques on said populations. I believe in meeting every client where they are at, taking their culture into consideration, and creating a therapeutic environment and system that works for them. My goal as a therapist is to create a welcoming environment for all to come into, regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, or religion. I can't guarantee completely that I won't make a mistake from time to time, so I encourage clients to challenge me if I get it wrong. We're all human, it's okay! I appreciate getting a chance to learn from my clients as much as you may learn from me.
