Associate Professional Counselor in Philadelphia, PA

About My Clients

In her experience thus far Nora has helped people grappling with issues of anxiety, relationship conflict, self-esteem, trauma, familial abuse, and depression. In session, she works collaboratively with the client and guides them towards changing old patterns and more effectively coping with distress.

My Background and Approach

Nora has a calm, compassionate and inquisitive demeanor that presents itself in the form of empathetic listening, thoughtful question asking, and knowledge sharing. When supporting people, she incorporates her values of anti-capitalism and anti-oppression into her practice and utilizes aspects of psychodynamic, relational, CBT and DBT theories to support individuals’ goals towards change. When useful, she will implement art therapy interventions to bolster the counseling process. Nora operates from a queer lived experience and aims to offer an affirming space for LGBTQIA+ people so that they may explore the subject of identity in a way that feels safe and empowering.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that we are more capable of change and adaptation than we are aware. I think that therapy can be a time and place where acceptance is generated for behaviors that are natural but oftentimes not helpful. From this place of acceptance, practiced awareness and targeted behavior toward change can occur. Because we are interdependent in nature, I believe we need to be in order to effectively heal. As a very sensitive kid who struggled with a lot of anxiety and now as a sensitive adult with anxiety and depression, I know how helpful therapy can be as a means for knowing self and human nature better. As a life long artist, I have used art making as a way to explore difficult emotions so that I may understand them better. As a result, I became interested in art therapy as a mode for healing. I believe that art making and creativity can be a route to knowing self and can act in profound ways to bypass defenses in order to provide us with greater self knowledge and reveal inner wisdom.
