About My Clients
My specialty in trauma work influences my approach through an emphasis on empathy, healing, and unconditional positive regard. Although my specialty is trauma work, I also have many years of experience working with adults, adolescents, and children living with a variety of mental health concerns including depression and mood disorders, anxiety, anger/aggression, low self-esteem, ADHD, stress management, and more.
My Background and Approach
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and my Master’s degree in Community Counseling from Loyola University. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in both Illinois and Wisconsin. I began my career in 2008 and my professional experience is grounded in the abuse and trauma field. I have enjoyed meeting and working with people of different ages, backgrounds, and life experiences across various social service and community mental health settings.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Choosing to pursue therapy is a brave and oftentimes nerve-wracking experience. I make it my goal to put my clients at ease, meeting them where they are at to create a safe and comfortable space where they can feel at ease to be their most authentic selves. I take the time to get to know each individual and together we formulate a plan to uniquely address their therapeutic needs. My style welcomes people into therapy, even those who may be unsure of how therapy may work for them. I combine empathy and compassion with solid evidenced based clinical skills to help clients achieve lasting change. I truly believe that everyone has the power within them to overcome barriers, break negative cycles, and live their best life!
