My approach to depression is helping my clients identify what depression means to them; is it sadness? emptiness? emotional fatigue? Let's break down what you're feeling. From there, let's assess what interventions would suit you in best in your pursuit of feeling better.
I believe that healthy self-esteem is the ultimate foundation of living a happy and fulfilled life. The same way somebody with healthy self-esteem would be best equipped to go through life's challenges; low self-esteem can be a major contributing factor to one's depression, anxiety or overall emotional well-being. I take a proactive approach in helping my clients define what self-esteem means to them and provide them with the tools and perspectives to feel better about themselves.
My approach to anxiety is that I like to help my clients figure out: 1) How much of their anxiety-induced thoughts are the results of issues and concerns that can be addressed through changing circumstances. 2) How much of their anxiety is brought on by the way they perceive life, manage their emotions, etc. etc. The next step consists of 1) Breaking down potential steps to help manage the circumstances that are bringing on the anxiety 2) Learning how to process stress in a healthy way.
