About My Clients
I work with adults and couples who are ready for meaningful, lasting change. Many of my clients feel stuck in old patterns, anxiety, self-criticism, grief, trauma, perfectionism, people pleasing, relationship struggles, shame, or attachment wounds. Some look successful on the outside but feel disconnected or unfulfilled inside. My work is especially suited for people who want to understand themselves deeply and transform whatever stands in the way of feeling good.
My Background and Approach
I’m Noah Rubinstein, LMHC, a licensed mental health counselor in Washington State and the founder of Awakening Hearts Therapy. I’ve worked in the mental health, counseling, and human services fields for more than three decades, including hospice, bereavement support, youth and family crisis work, residential treatment, community counseling, and private practice. My work is deeply informed by Internal Family Systems, also known as IFS, which I have practiced for more than 25 years. IFS offers a compassionate way of understanding human suffering and helping people to transform whatever stands int he way of feeling good. I offer a warm, thoughtful, depth-oriented approach for adults and couples who are ready to make meaningful and lasting change. Therapy can help you slow down, discover what is happening beneath the surface, and begin transforming whatever is standing in the way of feeling calm, connected, compassionate, confident, and free to be your authentic self.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe people are not broken, even when they’re suffering deeply, and even when they’re destructive to themselves or others. All of us are born into this world fully equipped with what we need to be happy, healthy, and well-adjusted. Much of what we struggle with began as an attempt to survive the suffering we experienced in the world. My work is grounded in the belief that healing happens when the parts of us that carry suffering and protective energy are met with curiosity and care, rather than judgment or force. Therapy, when led with curiosity and compassion, helps people connect with their higher self and the innate qualities of calm, clarity, loving-kindness, confidence, connection, creativity, joy, optimism, hope, playfulness, and the freedom to be one’s authentic self. Meaningful change takes time, intention, and a safe relationship where all of who you are is welcome.
