There was a time in your life when you felt that you and your partner were the perfect couple and could have conquered the world together. Today you feel that the spark is gone, you are in an endless cycle of toxic fights, you no longer trust him/her, you don't even recognize who is sleeping next to you, or you are doubtful about your relationship. Therapy is a safe space to explore what patterns are preventing you from having the relationship you have always desired.
You may have recently been diagnosed with a chronic illness or may have been struggling with it for years. It is common to experience negative emotions (e.g., anxiety, depression, frustration, anger) about your life and how its unfolding and feel like you have lost your identity. I treat medically compromised clients, facilitate their adjustment to their condition and assist them with the management of chronic pain to improve their quality of life and achieve their optimal level of functioning.
I implement an integrative approach to treatment, which means that I draw from different modalities of treatment including person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, interpersonal, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and exposure and response prevention among others, based on the client’s clinical symptoms, life experiences, and goals of treatment.
One of the orientations I implement the most is cognitive behavioral therapy, as this structured approach maintains that individuals’ emotional and behavioral responses are affected by their thoughts. Clients often present with issues that are maintained by a cycle of mutual influence between feelings, thoughts and behaviors. Therapy helps the client gain insight into this cycle and develop cognitive behavioral coping strategies to manage psychological distress and current life stressors.
I implement the use of psychodynamic therapy to help clients recognize, understand and overcome negative emotions associated with relationships earlier in life that are affecting current relational patterns. It is through this deep exploration that clients become aware of how earlier dynamics have impacted their decision-making, behaviors, relationships, and mood. Understanding yourself at a deeper level helps you become the best version of yourself as well as develop healthier relationships.
As a parent you want the best for your child/teen, a life filled with health, happiness, and success. Nowadays, being a child/teen has become more challenging due to social media, which can result in social comparison, low self-esteem, emotional issues, isolation, joining negative peer groups, and low academic performance. Therapy is a nonjudgmental environment where your child/teen can identify, explore, and address issues causing him/her distress.
